Perhaps it’s because of Provence’s inimitable play of light and colour that Fred Nogier discovered a passion for photography at an early age. Growing up in the Arles region of southern France, he studied visual arts, art history and literature in Nîmes. His knowledge of images and communication was deepened when he graduated from the Haute école des Arts Décoratifs in Geneva with a specialisation in visual communication. His professional career has taken him to work as an art director in advertising agencies in Geneva, Basel and Zurich. Photography has long been his creative companion. Even today, he fills this space of freedom with images that he captures in the labyrinth of the streets. During long walks, this urban explorer, as he likes to call it, immerses himself in the city, loses himself in it and discovers it from a new angle. It is in the context of this process that ideas are born for short Happenings that transform everyday life and create a dialogue between his shadow and his environment.
